The Promised One – Is.11:1-2

1A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;

from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

2The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—

the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,

the Spirit of counsel and of power,

the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord—

Throughout the Old Testament Scriptures are hidden pictures of the One who was to come… glimpses of the Anointed One, the Messiah.  From the line of David He was promised and He would have the Spirit of God upon Him, with wisdom, understanding, counsel and power as some of the marks of His ministry.  Let us look past the trappings of the modern world and the mists of tradition… to find Him…. the Bethlehem Baby.

Prayer:  Lord God ~ open our eyes afresh this season of Advent, give us expectancy to see with new vision the perfect plan of Yours… accomplished 2000 years ago.
