Driving home from the annual CCPC Women's Ministry retreat we noticed many women we knew weren’t there and were very aware of the myriad of obstacles that keep women from getting away for a weekend retreat. As women with jobs, children, etc. it is hard to get away so our desire is to create novel places of renewal and replenishment.
What are our images and definitions of retreat?

Army bloodied and beaten withdrawing?
Tropical island get away?
Quiet cabin in the woods with prayer and contemplation?
re·treat
  1. the forced or strategic withdrawal of an army or an armed force before an enemy
  2. the act of withdrawing, as into safety or privacy; retirement; seclusion
  3. an asylum, as for the insane
  4. a retirement or a period of retirement for religious exercises and meditation

Q: So why come to a bloom mini-retreat ?
A:  Just as the definition states, it is a time to "safely withdraw". You can come and find out just how to 'bloom where you are planted'.  You can be restored and renewed.  God has you where you are today, for a reason.  So, put down your roots, reach toward the heavens and...bloom!  Hence our motto:

Joining together to put down roots and blossom into flourishing women of the Lord
Q: What is a bloom mini-retreat ?
A: A time of focused withdrawal that is do-able (after work hours, kids are in bed, close to home), that is safe (just us girls in comfy clothes at church!), and a rigorous use of time to get fellowship, teaching, and nail down some of the basics of our faith walk in Christ

Q: What topics will the bloom mini-retreat ?
A: The BASICS
If we were able to truly withdraw from our everyday lives, these BASICS are topics to consider as we seek to find out who we are created by God to be.

B - body
A – assurance of salvation
S – soul – connecting through prayer and meditation
I – inspiration – keeping the fire alive
C – calling – exploring our roles and passions in life
S – Scripture – keeping grounded in our main means of growing in the Lord

Q:  When are the bloom mini-retreats ?
A:  There are six sessions, one per quarter.  The first session is Friday January 28 8-9:30 p.m. at CCPC. We will be starting with BODY, exploring what the world says, God says, and what we tell ourselves about our bodies.

Q: Who should come to a bloom mini-retreat ?
A:  Any woman over 18 years of age: you, a friend, a daughter, a neighbor, your sister…any one who needs to retreat, get the basics affirmed, and be refreshed mind, body, and spirit!

See you there!
