A little late for Christmas, but a very inspiring story none the less. This book tells about sharing, whether with the rich or the poor. It is not about what you are doing but purely about giving. It has inspired me to start my own Christmas Jar!!

Walker’s Wedding
-Lori Copeland-
This lighthearted western romance is a story about a woman’s dream of having a family of her own and then finding herself with the husband she always wanted…but not quite!  Through persistence and a renewed trust in God’s plan for her life she works through a season of difficulty to enter into a time of God’s rich provision. This book was a great escape from everyday life and encouragement to trust in God’s plan for our lives!

The Robe
-Lloyd C. Douglas-

What an inspiring book. It was an incredible journey through the life of Jesus, seen by the Roman soldier who won Christ’s Robe in a gambling game. I loved it. It doesn’t show perfect Christians, acting perfectly. It tells about the Christians’ journey after Christ’s death and how it reached young and old, rich and poor. Truly inspiring to DO something with your faith.

Her Daughter’s Dream
Francine Rivers
This was a perfect conclusion to Martha’s story. Again this was a “heavy” read, but I loved every second of it. It follows two more generations of mother-daughter relationships and the big impact the little things they do have on those relationships.  It made me think of the things I say to my children (especially my daughter) and what effect that will have on them later in life. I also loved the fact that in most of the book the characters had a personal relationship with God and trusted in Him. A must read for Fall.
A Lineage of Grace by Francine Rivers
What an amazing book!It is composed of 5 “mini” novels bound into one.  You get taken through the lives of five women in the Bible. This historical fiction made me pick up my Bible and study these women more deeply. I looked at them from a different perspective. It had me crying as I felt these women’s pain. These stories made me look deeper at my faith: does my faith come with certain demands? I learned through this book how to believe regardless of what life throws at me.  I loved it and definitely would encourage every woman of faith to read it.

Shepherding a Child's Heart - Ted Tripp

This is the best parenting book I’ve read so far. If it was ever unclear to you, how to raise your children biblically, this book will teach you. It makes you evaluate your parenting. This book stays on my nightstand and gets read almost daily. It is written for parents with children of all ages and is extremely helpful.

Parenting with Scripture  - Kara Durbin
I often struggle to remember which Bible verses to use to teach my children. This book is absolutely excellent for it. It is a topical guide for teaching your child about their sins and how they can work towards not repeating it. It covers everything from complaining to worry. Not only does it help you teach about sins but about fostering the good attributes in your child as well. Love, compassion and self-respect are but a few.  I really like this book and it has helped me tremendously in teaching my children with God’s Word.

Her Mother’s Hope" - Francine Rivers
This book was a “heavy” read. This is a story about a young woman running from an abusive past. She finds love, but then repeats history to the other extreme.  It felt like a lifetime crammed into a short story. Not at all like any of Francine’s other stories. God is mentioned but not made a part of the lives of the characters. The last chapter in the book was my favorite. I was disappointed that I had to read through all of it to enjoy the last chapter. I can recommend it, but not as an easy, lighthearted read.

"Tailor-Made Bride" - Karen Witemeyer
A stunning romance! The story teaches about preconceived notions and how fruitless they are.  I loved the love story between the characters as well as having all of their actions guided by God and how He teaches them to let go of past hurts and their negative influence on the present. I cannot wait to see what this first time author writes about next. I recommend this book. It is a lighthearted love story and will melt your heart!

  2. Thanks for these recommendations Natasha, I will certainly buy Tedd Trip's book study it and pass it on to my daughter's who, like you, strive to give their little one's the best spiritual input . Nothing matches the Truth and applying it in a creative manner in a child's life. For adult reading I have found Brennan Manning' books excellent and when I was struggling with worry his book Ruthless Trust was spot on, well, the title says all. Elise Grey
