This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Romans 13::6-7
In the last week we have had the painful privilege of learning to give respect and honour to family and friends. I say learning because we didn’t get it right at first. Good intentions are not enough. I am humbled by our absolute need of the Holy Spirit to show us what God’s will is. The right thing isn’t even always the right thing. Because sometimes He has a more right thing…does that make sense!? So, please Spirit help me do give to everyone what I owe them and guide me to know what that is.
