Tips for Encouraging Missions-Mindedness in Your Kids

Idea #1: My Passport to India

We have enjoyed 'traveling' via this wonderful multi-media adventure.  The children love the movies, devotions, and information regarding aspects of life and ministry in India.  We signed up and got a wonderful packet (all for free) - passports for the kids with two questions and a sticker for each episode which really made watching extra exciting.  There is also a little "suitcase" for collecting loose change to send to support missions in India.  This is both engaging and do-able.  Thumbs up from the Franklin family!

Join Mission India and Sonlight Curriculum for an amazing adventure in the nation of India!

Watch the trailer for a sneak preview of our 5-week journey and meet your tour guide Chris - a regular guy who is excited to show you the "real India" and how God is at work in this amazing country.

Idea #2: Samaritans Purse Gifts

We enjoyed looking through the Gift Catalog and the children picked things that meant something to them: mosquito nets for Rachel who is a mosquito magnet (!) and Nehemiah chose a bike for a missionary (boys love bikes!).  We also had thoughtful conversations about sustainability, meeting basic needs, evangelism...and the way the giving is set up you can give any amount towards any gift so even small gifts are welcome.  Samartians Purse is a reputable orgainization that keeps their administrative and fundraising costs to a low percentage.  Their site has some videos too that are helpful and informative conversation starters...We also used the "Honor & Memory Cards" instead of sending condolence flowers and to honor a family member.
