I love my church!

I think sometimes it is so easy to see what we don't like about things, especially churches!  But sometimes it is so wonderful to sit back and think about what is GOOD...not perfect, but good.  Today is the Sabbath and my family and I went to our church to worship.  We enjoyed the benefits of uplifting music that drew our attention of ourselves and onto God.  The prayer of a staff member challenged us to live for HIM, to have lifestyles that were counter-culture and turned towards God.

And then we were CHALLENGED...not with some sweet home-spun story with a few verses for good measure, but pointed to God's word, His desire for the best for us, and the HARD, SERIOUS work of turning ourselves over to Him daily [click here to listen].  The minister is one of us.  He models weekly his quest for God, thirst for Him, clinging to Him like a life jacket in a storm, His wistful acknowledgment of the wonders of God's grace towards His children...

After church we moved to our Sunday School class [click here for more info.], but not before enjoying laughter, fellowship, connection with fellow journeyers.  Not perfect saints.  Just more people looking for Him.  The lesson was delivered by an earnest layman - not a paid professional Biblical scholar, but someone who was ready to walk along the road with us, in a literal application of our faith in our daily lives.

WOW - I love my church.  Pray for church leaders, staffer, and congregations...they are working for us and walking with us!
Please comment if you have a commendation too! :-)
